The feeling of home against the backdrop of nature

When the spaciousness of urban residential comfort is combined with distinctive features of regional traditions, the result is something thrilling and unmistakeable. Like a modern sculpture, the brüderl. architects modelled a business couple’s home in a sophisticated hillside location into the structure of the village surroundings. Borrowing from the protective form of a three-sided farmyard, the clearly laid out construction is grouped around a spacious swimming pond that forms the energetic centre. Deliberately placed natural stones and rock gardens combine with the sweeping conclusion of the limestone wall enclosure to underline the groundedness of the location. This is further emphasised by the terrace and the structural details made of rough sawn larch wood. Large glass panels lend the construction a sense of lightness and transparency. Together with the two corresponding balconies, these reveal astonishing and unexpected visual axes. They allow the spectacle of the surrounding natural landscape to be observed as it changes with the time of day and through the seasons. Structural accents are provided by building elements fashioned from black powder-coated steel.
