a friendship that inspires
For more than 25 years, Schorsch Brüderl and Father Johannes Pausch have shared a special friendship. At first glance, the entrepreneur from Chiemsee and the Benedictine monk from the European monastery Gut Aich on Lake Wolfgang could hardly be more different—and yet they share many values.
They met during a visit by the priest to Brüderl’s company. That encounter gave rise to an intense exchange over the years. Since then, conversations about leadership, responsibility, humanity, and life’s big questions have shaped their friendship.
Father Johannes — a theologian, psychotherapist, and monastery founder — has repeatedly provided Schorsch Brüderl with new food for thought. Not through grand sermons, but through down-to-earthness, humor, and the ability to make people reflect. Conversely, the Benedictine monk appreciates the entrepreneurial spirit of his longtime companion.

What unites them both is the conviction that sustainable success requires more than just economic metrics. It’s about trust, appreciation, community, and the ability to consciously enjoy life.
A friendship that shows just how enriching different perspectives can be — and how valuable people are who continually open up new ways of seeing the world.
